About Andrew
Hi, I'm Andrew! A Nottingham-based tutor for Maths, Logic and Computing, from GCSE through to A-level. I studied Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, graduating with a First, and came through the same A-level path many of my students are on now: A* in Maths, A in Further Maths and A in Physics.
Since then I've spent a decade working in tech, most recently in senior platform and security engineering roles, so I bring real-world context to computing lessons. Not just theory, but how the concepts actually get used. I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation, breaking down problems step by step and adapting to how each student thinks.

I focus on building genuine understanding rather than teaching students to memorise steps. For maths, that usually means starting with why a method works before drilling how to apply it, then working through past-paper style questions together so the technique holds up under exam conditions. For computing, I draw on real industry examples so students see where a concept is actually used, not just the textbook version. I adapt the pace and explanation style to how each student thinks - some want the formal proof, others just want to see it work through examples first.
Lessons typically run 60 minutes, with 45 or 90-minute options depending on what suits - shorter for regular topic maintenance, longer for exam-technique or past-paper practice closer to exams.
