About Ethan
I am an undergraduate medicine student at the University of New South Wales who balanced IB study with UCAT preparation — achieving the 93rd percentile — while still making time to avoid burnout (I love fishing and going to the gym). When I started the IB program, I honestly believed 7s were out of reach in several subjects, and I expected to barely scrape through a 36/45. Through structured, exam-focused preparation, I improved this to a predicted 38/45 by my 3rd semester, and through exam preparation changed this to a final 42/45 in under a semester, including raising Chemistry and History from predicted 5s to strong 7s. My goal is to help students achieve the same — performing at their best while maintaining balance and well-being throughout the IB.

My teaching style is exam-focused: I help students master the content while also understanding exactly what examiners look for in responses. This approach builds consistency and confidence so students can achieve high marks across all papers.
For Chemistry and Biology, I place strong emphasis on understanding mark schemes and rubrics alongside content mastery. In Mathematics, lessons focus on conceptual understanding so students feel prepared for any style of question, with support on pacing and exam structure as needed.
I also offer general IB tips to help students manage workload, reduce stress, and feel more confident approaching assessments and exam periods.
Using these strategies, I consistently achieved 7s across all exams in five of my six subjects. With the right support and structure, I believe most students can significantly improve their exam performance too.
I work with students at any stage of the IB who want to improve results or simply feel more in control of the program. While I can offer some guidance on IAs, I am transparent in saying they were not my strongest area — so I do not specialise in IA tutoring.
