About Katie

I'm a nurse, but I'm currently back in school to further my healthcare career. I tutored for several years in school and was also trained in academic coaching.

Once I started as a nurse, I started precepting--guiding new nurses and helping develop their skills. While it's not the same as tutoring, I think precepting and tutoring certainly share some commonalities.

In my free time, I like doing word puzzles and walking my (lovable, chaotic) dog.

About the lesson

I love tutoring and enjoy using analogies to help students understand difficult concepts.

Working through practice problems is an important part of understanding chemistry, so I'm happy to help do that! I have my own sets of practice problems, or I can help look at yours.

I try to use the Socratic Method as much as I can--prompting you and guiding you to answer these questions on your own.

I think that tutoring is wonderful, but general academic coaching (looking at making a schedule, determining what is most important to do, and working on study strategies) is perhaps even more important when working with students!
