I’m a licensed EMT and currently a nursing student with a 4.0 GPA. I tutored a few kids back in highschool and also worked in aftercare for an elementary school where I was expected to help with homework and explain concepts in different ways based on the individual student.

I usually try to explain the bigger picture when I tutor. I answer the “why” not simply “it’s this way because I told you so”. This was always my biggest issue with teachers, and concepts never stuck with me when I didn’t understand why it was the way it was. If I see someone isn’t understanding the way I’m explaining something, I’ll explain it in a new way.
