About Mathias

As mentioned previously, I obtained my general secondary education certificate (CESS) in 2019, with a focus on Science (6 hours/week) and English (5 hours/week). Following this, I obtained a B2 level English language certificate (advanced user, almost bilingual) through self-study. On a daily basis, I consume all kinds of media in English (politics, press and scientific articles, music, films, series, video games, and videos), understanding their content in its entirety without much difficulty.

About the lesson

How do I plan to teach English and/or other subjects (Mathematics, French, as well as Chemistry and Biology) effectively? Well, it's simple: first, I ask the student which chapter of the course they are currently studying at school. If my help is needed to revise for a general quiz or exam, I will ask for a list of all the topics their teacher plans to test on. Then, I will assess the student's understanding of the relevant chapter(s) through both written and oral exercises. This way, I will be able to identify the chapter(s) they are struggling with and the concepts they haven't fully grasped. Furthermore, after identifying the difficulties the student is experiencing, I will offer to re-explain the concepts from their course, but in a way that is more age-appropriate, since I myself had to help my brother review his lessons not so long ago. Then, I will ask the student to redo the same exercises as before, as well as additional exercises focusing on the concepts they find most challenging. Finally, I will recommend that the student (if they enjoy video games or media such as music, podcasts, or series) change the voices in their games to English while keeping the French subtitles, watch videos of their English-language music with lyrics, or even watch their series in their original language with French subtitles.
