My approach is flexible and centred around the student’s needs and comfort level. I like to receive the material a few days in advance so I can review the topic and come prepared with clear explanations and examples. I also ask students to briefly share which parts of the topic they find most difficult so we can focus our time on the areas that will help them the most, rather than going over concepts they already understand.
A typical lesson usually starts with a quick review of the topic and identifying where the confusion lies. From there, we work through the concepts step by step using simple explanations, practical examples, and practice problems. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the session and to talk through their thinking process so we can identify any gaps and build confidence.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to break down complex ideas into clear, relatable explanations. With my background in occupational therapy, I uniquely understand breaking down a task into simple steps to make it digestible for the student. I try to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
My lessons are best suited for high school or early university students who need support in math, chemistry, or general science courses. They are especially helpful for students who feel stuck on certain topics and want a clear, step-by-step approach to understanding the material.
