About Laila

Salam! My name is Laila, and I am currently a Quran instructor and tutor. I’m here to help you learn the Quran and the religion of Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, from the basics or from wherever stage you are on your journey. I teach students of all ages and feel deeply passionate about seeing each student progress, moving from one stage to the next and growing closer to their faith.

I truly believe that seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim. As the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim." (Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 224, Grade: Sahih)

تَرْجُو النَّجَاةَ وَلَمْ تَسْلُكْ مَسَالِكَهَا، إِنَّ السَّفِينَةَ لَا تَجْرِي عَلَى اليَبَسِ "You hope for salvation, yet you do not follow its paths. Indeed, the ship does not sail on dry land."

About the lesson

In the first few minutes of the class, I assess the stage my students are at. From there, I structure their study outline based on their level for maximum effectiveness.

For Iqra students, the focus is on learning fluency and understanding the letters and vowels, along with Tajweed, to ensure a smooth and easy transition to reciting the Quran with fluency and proper Tajweed. At this stage, it’s more important for students to understand than to memorize words.

For Quran students, I assess their fluency, Tajweed, and their relationship with the Quran to better understand where they are in their journey. From there, we create a clear and effective outline to support them in Tilawat, Murajaa, and memorization. We then dedicate part of the remaining time to learning Tafseer, Seerah, Fiqh, and Hadith.

Students can also have a mentor who understands their needs and frustrations, helping them build consistency and grow closer to Allah. For reverts, I use a combination of approaches to be effective and to help them maintain consistency.

After every 10 sessions, I ask my students for feedback to ensure they are not only learning but also benefitting.
