About Josh

I'm Josh, an Edinburgh-based tutor with a First Class Honours LLB degree and formal teaching credentials from the Law Society of Scotland. I've been tutoring for several years, working with university law students as well as secondary pupils in subjects like National 5/GCSE - A-Level and (Advanced) Higher: Maths and English... Some of my students have been with me for years, which I'm really proud of. Alongside tutoring, I work in legal practice, so I know what it's like to juggle exams, deadlines and everything else. My approach is simple: find out exactly where you're losing marks, break things down until they click, and give you the exam technique to get over the line to an A. I'm patient, approachable and invested in every student I work with.

About the lesson

I don't just explain the content, I break it down so it actually makes sense, then show you exactly how to turn that understanding into marks. A lot of students know more than their grades suggest; they're just losing marks on how they answer, not what they know. I'll show you what examiners are really looking for, how marks are awarded, and the small changes that move you from a B to an A. Every session is tailored to you: I work out where the gaps are, focus on what will make the biggest difference, and build your confidence along the way so you go into the exam knowing exactly what to do.
