About Hannah

I have a degree in English and French and I lived in France for 6 months as part of my degree; I taught in a French high school for the duration of my stay as an English language assistant, working with individual students and full classes. I assisted students in working towards their English qualifications (A level equivalent) through speech and accent training, linguistics and cultural lessons. I continued to support the students for the remainder of my contract (March-May 2020) online. Many of these students could only communicate with me in French initially, however by the end of my contract they were able to hold really engaging conversations in English on a range of topics.

Prior to this I assisted in delivering workshops on racism and diversity in local secondary schools in Nottinghamshire as part of a voluntary project.

I'm really passionate about languages and I really enjoy engaging with students of all ages to perfect their language skills!

About the lesson

My teaching method is tailored to the specific needs and capabilities of the student, I focus particularly on active language learning techniques, such as encouraging the student to identify grammar structures and syntax features in a text, rather than myself dictating language rules. Language learning is much more fun and engaging with this type of approach.

Lessons encompass different skills according to the syllabus of the exam or the goal of the individual student. I try to vary the topic and skill each week to ensure lessons remain interesting and relevant.

I work with school students of all ages, primarily those studying GCSE and A Level French, although I am open to assisting anyone achieve their language learning goal.
