About Pauline
I am a professional writer with a B.A. in English and a Postgraduate Certificate in Humanities (Creative Writing), which means that I am halfway through an M.A. in Creative Writing. I am also a native French speaker (I was born and lived in France for the first 20 years of my life), and I have been a French tutor for native English speakers for 3 years! I have been teaching French to adult and teenage learners (beginner and advanced levels alike) for various reasons (personal, professional, travelling, moving to France...) with great pleasure and success. I always adapt the lessons to your specific needs and goals, whether you want to focus on speaking, understanding, or even reading! I have been writing since the age of 6, and some of my personal works have been selected and shortlisted for competitions in the UK and abroad. One of my short stories, 'A World Without Colour', was shortlisted for the Writers' Forum Short Story Contest in May 2020. One of my screenplays, 'Little Archer', was selected for the Filmmatic Drama Screenplay Awards in June 2020. I also won an academic prize for a short story on the genesis of Macbeth in 2014. I have been writing professionally for a few years, from articles to video game scripts and short stories. I have received 5-star reviews from numerous clients on a variety of different writing projects (available upon request).

For French lessons, your needs and goals are the most important thing. They will determine the approach we take, and the way you are going to learn this demanding language. Activities range from conversation, grammar exercises, translating audiovisual content and written texts, playing linguistic games, role-playing, reading aloud... The sky is the limit! But one thing I focus on especially is practicality. I won't teach you the French language like a teacher in school or a grammar book would. I will teach you the French language exactly as it is spoken in France, in all its subtlety and beauty! Recommendations and references from previous students available upon request. Creative writing, like any other art form, is highly subjective and personal. There is no right or wrong way to write fiction, however there are rules, tools, and techniques you should know in order to become a better writer. That's precisely what I'm here for :) Whether you already have experience writing fiction, or have never tried but would like to, I will adapt the lessons to your needs and level. If you already have some experience but feel like you could improve, I can take a look at your work and pinpoint what is good and what needs work, before preparing activities, exercises, and assignments specially designed to help you become a better writer. If you are a complete newbie, that's absolutely fine too! I have lots of fun activities to get your creative juices flowing and help you find your voice as an author :) My main focus is on teen and adult learners for both French and Creative Writing lessons.
