About Sam
Tournament and Professional Experience:
First and foremost I have been playing chess for 19 Years now since the age of 5! I have previously worked as a chess tutor for a professional chess tutoring company and have represented England at Under 18 international level. I was awarded Best English Player in an England versus Belgium international tournament, finished runner up in the British Chess Championship Under 11 section, became UK Chess Schools Champion, reached the UK Delancey Terafinals and have won multiple tournaments across the UK. My competitive background allows me to teach real tournament level decision making, not just theory.
Personal Inspiration
Now with all the formalities out the way, imagine how I actually started playing chess? My mother had a dream that I would play chess and become a chess champion. Of course, it's funny at first, but then you realise she wasn't wrong was she haha!
I would also like to mention how my super aggressive style is influenced by Garry Kasparov, this is because when I first saw that man speak it filled me with motivation and confidence, just an effect he has. Oh and yes, I am also from the same original country as Kasparov (Azerbaijan) and went to his exact chess academy that he himself set up in Baku. Then after I entered my first ever tournament at the age of 5 in that same Kasparov chess club venue, I won my first ever tournament and it included adults too! So really chess was just in my blood and I was bound to be a chess champion haha!
I have also been taught by the likes of John Paul Wallace and Nick Pert, as some of you may be familiar with them as top names in the chess world! John Paul Wallace is an English International Master known for his long standing presence in British competitive chess and strong contributions at club and national level. Nick Pert is an English Grandmaster and former British Champion recognised for his dynamic playing style and extensive experience as both a top level competitor and professional coach.
To mention I did take around a 7 year break from chess, but I believe I'm back stronger than ever and looking for that next title always!

I offer high quality chess coaching exclusively for adults aged 18 and over, working with beginner to intermediate players who want to build strong fundamentals and develop a fearless, attacking style ♟️ Whether you are completely new to chess, returning after a long break, or already competing at club level and looking to improve your rating, I provide structured, serious training tailored to your goals. My highest ECF has been 1938 Standard Play and 1831 Rapid Play. My Highest Fide Rating has been 1834 Standard and 1818 Rapid Play, although I tend to beat or at least play competitively against 2000 + rated players. Make of it what you will, but my highest Lichess ELO's are as follows: Rapid: 2179, Blitz: 2105.
In our sessions we cover every phase of the game in depth. This includes opening principles and understanding plans rather than memorising moves, core fundamentals such as development, centre control and king safety, middlegame strategy and attacking play, tactical calculation and pattern recognition, and essential practical endgames. We also play full games together with detailed analysis to help you understand your decision making and improve quickly Typical lessons last between one and two hours, depending on your preference and schedule.
My teaching style is patient, methodical and structured. I break complex ideas down clearly and build your understanding step by step. At the same time, I promote a confident, rock and roll attacking style of chess built around initiative, pressure and fighting spirit ️ Every lesson is interactive and practical, ensuring you are actively calculating and thinking rather than just listening.
If you prefer, you can also hire me purely to play games with you without analysis. This is ideal if you want strong sparring practice, to test your openings, improve time management or simulate tournament conditions ♟️ Whether you want structured coaching or simply competitive practice games, I am here to help you improve and play powerful, attacking chess.
