Methodology

I have received a graduate diploma of National Oil Academy.
Also, have numerous certificates of practical seminars, training courses which helped me to improve my professional skills.
During my work, I use different methods and techniques for better understanding and high results of my students.The classes are fully personalized and focused on the individual goal of each student and respecting their personal preferences method, topics, objectives, and content to be learned.

Background

My experience of teaching English is more than 3 years.
All this time I'm learning new teaching methods and developing not only as a teacher but also personally. My students must learn to maintain a conversation on any topic so believe that the key to language proficiency is to speak, speak, speak. I create a lesson environment that encourages fun and interesting conversation and learning.
My teaching method focuses on providing a comfortable environment for my students to learn in.
I relish the opportunity to teach and I always motivate and encourage my students to improve further. Having taught more than 100 students of many age groups and backgrounds, I understand and accept that lessons need to be taught differently to different people.

QUESTION 01 | 08

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

Julia — I have a bachelor's degree in engineering and at the beginning of my career, I realized that whichever company I worked for, I was always teaching someone within the team or a new staff member as my neighbors' children. This is where everything began.

My intention was never to make a career out of teaching but my students told me that I explained things so much better than their teachers, and they really enjoyed my lessons. So I decided to teach English full time. I took the TEFL course and started teaching. Honestly, I love it too much!

Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Julia — I teach English and it is my passion in life. I can discuss all the topics that my students prefer because I'm interested in everything, I'm an avid reader. I like to discuss business topics, lifestyle, and motivation. On the other hand, I never discuss religion or politics with my students. Luckily, during my 4 years' teaching experience, I haven't come across a student who likes discussing politics or religion yet.

Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Julia — Of course, yes! Great teachers who served as mentors, coaches, motivators like Brian Tracy and Tony Robbins who both inspired me to walk the wonderful path into teaching. I think a good teacher should be a motivator, and inspire students to learn something new like a foreign language.

What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Julia — I've been teaching English online since 2015 and I think there are several necessary qualities that are required to be a good teacher. Firstly, a tutor must be energetic, patient, and optimistic. She/he must make personalized tutoring; classes should be established on each student's needs and preferences. One more necessary quality is to be simple and practical. A tutor must make classes interesting, and relate what they are teaching to real life.

Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Julia — Oh, I'm not really good at telling anecdotes...But the funniest time I have with a student is when I'm teaching an absolute beginner. We hardly understand each other, but I never give up! And we always reach a happy end where students can start to speak English. It pure happiness for me.

What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Julia — When I started teaching, I faced difficulties when teaching beginners from different countries as I don't understand the languages. I tried to explain with gestures or translation apps but over time this became easier to navigate and I love seeing the progression.

Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Julia — Well, I'm really keen on learning languages. I'm a multilingual person. I share this knowledge with students and it helps me to build a very useful and interesting teaching environment.

So now my passion is teaching English. I'm teaching general and business English. I also help students to prepare for exams and job interviews. I'd like to become an expert in English tutoring. My passion is increasing because my students always show such great results.

What makes you a Superprof in language?

Julia — I know 5 languages and now I'm learning Spanish. I always investigate new methods on how to learn languages efficiently.

Also, I'm working on myself all the time; I learn new teaching methods, take part in teaching seminars and courses at least once a month. This inspires me to be better and better every day! I pay attention to each student, building personalized and flexible classes. I try to make my classes as comfortable as possible.

My experience and ambitiions help me to be a SuperProf in language.
