About Juana

Bonjour à tous ! I am Juana. I am a professional in Languages and Cultural Studies with six years of experience in French Language teaching. I am originally from Colombia, in South America (not to be confused with the state of Columbia in the US), but I emigrated to Canada in 2017. I currently live in Hamilton, ON. I am passionate about learning, literacy and discovering new cultures. I believe in language as a tool to unlock doors and create bridges with other people and communities around the world. Through the years I have acquired a valuable set of skills and experience teaching students from all ages and backgrounds. Whether it is a pre-K student or an adult learner, My goal is to nurture their curiosity and love for French. Let's connect and start discovering le monde du français together !

About the lesson

My classes combine some aspects from conversational language acquisition methods, which makes conversation the main focus of many of my classes. However, I strive to include all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening exercises) in each session, to ensure an integral learning for my students. I also enjoy including games, music and at-home activities for students of all ages! I believe play is an essential part of language learning). Most of my experience has been tutoring children from Elementary School in Canada. However, I have ample experience with adult learners as well and enjoy teaching students of different levels and backgrounds. A typical lesson plan for me will cover the basics of french for any beginner, however I do my best to tailor the learning sessions depending on my students' goals, level and interests.
