About Chris
First-Class BSc Criminology Graduate
Completed MSc Study at UCL
Academic Background in History
I studied History through both GCSE and A-Level, before progressing into higher education where I achieved a First-Class BSc in Criminology and later completed an MSc in Countering Extremist Crime and Terrorism at University College London (UCL).
My university studies have strengthened many of the skills that are essential for History, including critical analysis, evaluating evidence, constructing arguments, academic research and clear written communication.
I understand that History can become difficult when students know the content but are unsure how to turn that knowledge into strong exam answers. My approach is therefore focused on helping students build confidence in both their subject knowledge and analytical skills, while making complex topics easier to understand and organise.
I aim to provide lessons that are structured, supportive and tailored to the individual student, with a strong focus on helping them become more confident and independent in their work.

Essay Writing • Source Analysis • Exam Technique • Subject Knowledge
My lessons are tailored to each student’s exam board, specific historical topics, current ability and target grade. Before beginning, I establish exactly which areas of the course the student is studying so that every session is directly relevant to their specification.
The first lesson is designed to identify strengths, knowledge gaps and the areas where marks are being lost. From there, I create a structured plan focused on the student’s individual needs.
Lessons can include:
• Building and consolidating subject knowledge
• Understanding chronology, causation and consequence
• Source and interpretation analysis
• Essay planning and argument development
• Using evidence effectively
• Improving evaluation and critical analysis
• Exam technique and timed practice
• Breaking down mark schemes and command words
My aim is to help students not only remember historical content, but also understand how to apply that knowledge effectively in exams and written work
