About Dylan

Growing up, music was always playing in my house. My father was in a band many years ago, and performed solo gigs in local pubs and clubs. He was always playing guitar around me, so it has always been something I've been exposed to. He would position his hands on the neck for chord shapes, and my toddler hands would slap the strings, showing me how this magic piece of wood and metal could sound beautiful.

When I was old enough, I gravitated towards one of my dad's many acoustic guitars and began figuring out how to play, with the later guidance of my father. His personal music taste was different from my own at the time and with what I wanted to learn. Over time, he saw that it was something I was serious about, so he bought me my first proper electric guitar. I was ecstatic, and I still have this axe to this day! Learning by ear, as well as learning from my dad showed me that practice makes perfect, and if you want to be good at something badly enough, you can be. In school, this passion was nurtured even further by my music teacher who told me to never ever stop what I'm doing and find people to form a band with. This sticks with me to this day, as well as the impact a teacher can have on a student, which is what I hope to have on you!

About the lesson

Hi! I'm Dylan, and I'm a guitarist, producer, and songwriter with years of experience playing live, writing original music, and recording in the studio. Playing from an early age, music has always been my biggest passion. This innate drive has given me a creative and meditative outlet for my thoughts and feelings, as well as the ability to share sonic joy with people all over the world.

My lessons aren't just about learning scales or memorizing exercises. I focus on helping you become a confident, well-rounded musician by teaching the skills that actually matter: understanding the guitar, developing your musical ear, writing your own music, improvising, and finding your own style.

Whether you're picking up guitar for the first time or looking to enhance your playing ability, every lesson will be tailored to your goals as well as the music you enjoy. If you love rock, alternative, grunge, blues, pop, or metal, we'll use your favorite songs and discover techniques from those genres to keep learning enjoyable and motivating.

I'm currently the lead guitarist in a band called Sonovox. Because I'm still actively performing, producing, and creating my own music, you'll learn practical, up-to-date techniques that working musicians use today, and not just material from a textbook or a dated YouTube video.

My mission is to help you become the guitarist you want to be while making every lesson something you genuinely look forward to.
