• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I developed an interest in mathematics, finance, and data science during my early academic years. The analytical nature of these subjects intrigued me, and I enjoyed solving complex problems. My interest in private tutoring began when I realized the impact I could have on helping students understand difficult concepts and succeed in their studies. Seeing students gain confidence and achieve their goals has been incredibly rewarding.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less)

  I teach a variety of subjects, including Mathematics, Statistics, and Finance. I enjoy discussing topics such as calculus, statistical analysis, financial modeling, and data science applications. These areas allow students to see the real-world applications of theoretical concepts, which I find particularly engaging. Topics I find less exciting might be basic arithmetic or very elementary concepts, as I prefer delving into more complex and challenging material.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  Yes, I had several role models throughout my education. One particular teacher in high school made a significant impact on me by making complex mathematical concepts accessible and engaging. Their passion for the subject and dedication to teaching inspired me to pursue a career where I could have a similar influence on others.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  A good tutor must be patient, understanding, and able to explain concepts in multiple ways to suit different learning styles. They should be passionate about the subject and capable of inspiring that passion in their students. Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to motivate students are also crucial qualities.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  One memorable anecdote from my school days was when I helped a fellow student who was struggling with calculus. We spent several afternoons together, and I used real-world examples to explain the concepts. Not only did they pass the exam with flying colors, but they also developed a newfound interest in mathematics. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of personalized tutoring and the impact it can have on a student's academic journey.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  One of the challenges I faced was keeping up with the rapid advancements in data science and finance. These fields are constantly evolving, requiring continuous learning and adaptation. Staying current with new methodologies, tools, and technologies remains an ongoing challenge, but it is also what makes these fields exciting.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My particular passion lies in the intersection of data science and finance. I love uncovering insights from data and applying them to solve financial problems. Teaching allows me to share this passion with others, helping them to develop their skills and interests in these areas. Outside of teaching, I enjoy working on personal data science projects and staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in the field.
