About Anna

Over the past ten years, I have helped my students improve their predicted grades and surpass expectations on their retakes. My love for tutoring started when I volunteered to help at the after-school maths club during my GCSEs. I enjoyed it so much and received positive feedback from students that I continued volunteering until I started university. I then started private tutoring alongside a degree in Mathematics at UCL. I tutored students on various exam boards, including IB (International Baccalaureate). After graduating, I worked as a teaching assistant in a special needs school with children of varying ages and requirements. This helped me develop a more creative approach to teaching and enabled me to find the best techniques to teach different types of learners. I believe that everyone can succeed in maths given the proper support. This involves making it both enjoyable and demonstrating its applications in everyday life. I was fortunate to have support throughout my entire academic career. I hope to provide the next generation with the help and support to achieve their best.

About the lesson

I provide different types of lessons depending on the needs of the student. Some need help with homework or reviewing their test papers, and others need structured revision when resitting their exams. I prepare personalised material for every lesson and use an interactive whiteboard where we both can write and discuss the problem as if we were in the same room working on a piece of paper. I encourage my students to explain their thinking to me while working on questions. I then provide input when they face difficulties or confusion. This technique improves their understanding and helps them apply their knowledge to future problems. I teach students many techniques to solve problems without the use of calculators. It helps build their numerical skills and gives them the confidence to approach unknown material without relying on technology. To solve more complex questions, I suggest a session length of ninety minutes to two hours for GCSE and A-level students. The number of sessions per week will depend on the student's requirements and the proximity of upcoming assessments. I can tutor Maths and Further Maths from any exam board at any level, including international curriculum. In addition, I can assist with numerical entry exams for schools and other courses, given you can provide me with a specification or a sample paper beforehand.

Perfect! My 16 year old daughter is really enjoying her sessions with Anna in her run in to GCSE finals. Anna comes prepared for the lessons and has an excellent grasp of what's required based on her needs and level. My only regret is we didn't find her sooner!
