About Edward
I studied maths, further maths, chemistry and physics at A level and sat STEP to prepare me for University maths. At school, I took up every opportunity to teach others; I have helped prepare younger years for public exams and maths challenges, and have given many lectures to science societies. I am taking a gap year to pursue musical opportunities, which includes teaching music theory. Next year, I will be studying mathematics at Oxford university.
Although I am not exactly sure what I want to do after university, I am considering teaching and I am tutoring to further my experience in the field.

Most lessons begin with me introducing or reintroducing a concept to the student. I then begin with problems that check the student’s understanding and to allow me to identify areas of uncertainty. Afterwards, I set questions inspired by past papers and often questions beyond the difficulty of the exam. I have always found 'overtraining' useful so that even under exam pressure the student should not feel flustered. I tend to avoid past paper questions and instead use them as inspiration for my own questions so I do not use up the limited past paper resources that are available.
I tend to give weekly or biweekly lessons and they are normally 60 minutes in length, but this is flexible to individual circumstances. The most important thing to me is that my lessons are a place where a student can thrive and ask any question that they deem necessary.
