About Esme

Hello! I am a tutor of 4 years with a real love of teaching, now studying Psychology at the University of Sheffield.

Over the years, I have taught 15+ pupils whose parents have only given me positive feedback. I am so so proud of my tutees, who have exceeded entry requirements, reached top sets and (most importantly) seen a big boost in their confidence and a total change in their attitude toward school.

About the lesson

I work with pupils with numerous SEND needs and will tailor each lesson to best support you/your child. As a student myself, I understand the pressures of school and exams so teach as a friendly, supportive and understanding older peer rather than a traditional professional.

Many students feel nervous about maths and give up on questions before allowing themselves a chance. My priority is to improve my tutee's confidence by offering starting points and promoting mathematical thinking. I explain ideas clearly, with visual aids like fraction pizzas or cheesy songs.

Practise is key to learning maths. That is why example SATs/GCSEs question are a large focus of my lesson to identify weak areas, create familiarity with exams and measure progress.

I can offer regular sessions, or "as and when" help with homework. No matter your maths level, I am confident we can exceed your goal. If you have any questions, please reach out!
