About Katie

My name is Katie Barrett, I am a 22 year old Spanish Graduate from the University of East Anglia, and I would love to help you achieve the grade you want in your Spanish GCSE or A-level,…and hopefully inspire you to enjoy learning Spanish as much as I enjoy teaching it. With five years of tutoring experience and a 2.1 in Modern Language Spanish from the University of East Anglia, I specialise in helping students build confidence, improve their grades, and master the language. Having achieved an A* at A-Level* myself and spent a year living in Madrid, I combine first-hand exam knowledge with real-world language skills to provide engaging and effective lessons.

About the lesson

Having studied the current GCSE and A-Level Spanish syllabus myself between 2017-2021, I have First-Hand Experience with the current Exam Syllabus, and therefore have a unique advantage when it comes to lesson planning, exam prep and insider knowledge. I achieved a 7 at GCSE and an A* at A-Level*, and I incorporate my own tried-and-tested study materials in my lessons to help my students succeed. With five years of experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Spanish over Zoom, I’ve helped all my students improve by at least two grades from when we started working together. My lessons are dynamic, engaging, and super flexible, as I always prioritise my students’ individual needs. My understanding of Spanish grammar, syntax, and morphology ensures I can explain even the trickiest concepts. I also always aim to incorporate real-life language use and cultural insights to make learning Spanish more engaging and relevant. Every student is different, and my lessons reflect that. I offer a free online consultation to anyone interested in starting lessons with me, in which I assess learning styles, strengths, and areas for improvement. From there, I create a customised learning plan, covering conversation practice, reading comprehension, grammar, listening, and writing—all adapted to suit your learning style. I use a combination of homemade lesson plans based on my own experience with the GCSE and A-Level courses, as well as the best interactive online tools I’ve discovered through my years of tutoring. My goal is to make Spanish accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for every student, and ultimately, to help each student achieve the best grade possible.
