About Jyotirmay Das

Jyotirmay Das Jyotirmay was fascinated by tabla from a very young age, he started formal lessons in tabla at the age of seven in the presence of Adiguru Jitumani Sharma. After three years he started learning Tabla Under Guidance of Guru Paran Ranjan Baruah of Guwahati. For higher education in Music. After completing his higher secondary education from Cotton College, Guwahati. He got admitted in Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in the Department of Instrumental Music. And he started learning tabla under the guidance of international tabla guru Pandit Sumantra Guha. He also completed master degree in Tabla from the same university in First Class Position. While studying in Kolkata, Jyotirmay was able to get close to many national and international gurus. In 2013-2014, he was awarded the National Scholarship by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India held in New Delhi. He also learned tabla under guidance of international tabla Guru Pandit Shankar Ghosh and Pandit Bikram Ghosh for about 3 years. From a very young age, Jyotirmay has been performing on various stages as a solo tabla Artist and accompanist. He has also participated in various national-level competitions and won prizes.1st prize in Chetla Murari Sangeet Sanmilan,2nd prize in North East Classical Music Competition,1st Prize in Tabla Competition held by Pune Sangeet Festival etc.Jyotirmay also got opportunity to accompany with Famous sarod maestro Pandit Kalyan Mukherjee, Sarangi Maestro Late Pandit Vijay Mishra, Pandit Ramlal Mishra, Dr Samiran Chatterjee, Prof Biswajit Roychowdhury, Pandit Sanatan Goswami, etc on Various Stages. Jyotirmay completed his Sound Engineering courses under CK Studio, Kolkata, At Present he is learning the Playing style of Farrukhabad Gharana under the supervision of Guru Pandit Sumantra Guha. He is also a Research scholar of Tabla. Jyotirmay is able to earn a good reputation by teaching tabla to various students of Assam and West Bengal.
