About Arran

My name is Arran, and I am a third-year honours student at the University of Glasgow. I'm studying for a master's degree in mathematics which I have thoroughly enjoyed so far. Maths has always been my favourite subject for the precise, structured solutions it offers to seemingly difficult problems. I love tutoring, and being able to help my students achieve their results is so rewarding.
I have great experience with the SQA national qualification courses from both my time at school and through being a tutor. I sat my exams at Hamilton College where I achieved 9 A's at National 5 and 5 A's at Higher from first sittings including N5
Mathematics, N5 Applications of
Mathematics and Higher Mathematics all at an A band 1 level. During my time at school, I also received two silver awards from the UK Mathematics trust, furthermore I recently achieved A’s in Mathematics after both my first and second year University exams. I have been tutoring students for over a two years now both privately and as a mentor at MagiKats tuition centre where I learned many techniques to find the best way for each individual student to grasp the concepts I teach. In addition, I hold full enhanced DBS clearance and a certificate of child protection in education and safeguarding awarded by TES develop.

About the lesson

I understand the pressures and expectations exams place on students and this is always at the forefront of my mind when delivering lessons. I work closely with the SQA course specifications along with my own personal experience to create notes for students to revise from. I always ensure every topic is covered with plenty of written examples, and homework questions are given out depending on existing commitments to allow students to consolidate their learning in their own time and highlight key areas of confusion.
Moreover, I formulate S3 level exam papers to introduce the structure of exams as early as possible and ensure students are properly prepared for their exams and class tests. I charge £25 per hour where my lessons are carried out online via Zoom weekly and all lesson notes and homework are sent directly to students for their reference. Each session can be either 1 or 2 hours by arrangement.
