About Rayyan
Hello!
My name is Rayyan and I am a third year studying for an integrated masters' degree of Chemistry (MChem) at the University of Manchester!
I enjoy Organic Chemistry and will be undertaking a placement in my third year on Chemical research and development related to drug synthesis. Outside of studies I also really enjoy watching and playing sports including football (I'm a Chelsea fan!) cricket and rugby.
Having had the opportunity to become a mentor and tutor for first year students in my second year, I have been able to develop my passion for helping students to succeed in their studies! Chemistry (and basically all of STEM) requires a great deal of discussion and collaboration and is something which I believe at times can be quite lacking in the classroom and so I like to emphasise discussion and chats in sessions!
In the first year of my degree I achieved an overall 1st Class grade. I achieved 3A*s in Chemistry, Maths and Physics at A-Level and 9A* and 2A grades at GCSE.

Lessons designed to be tailored alongside the curriculum given to the student currently studying in their respective institutions.
Heavy focus on applying concepts learned to practice problems through past paper questions, tutorial questions and textbook problems.
Discussions with pupils about different approaches to questions in a facilitative manner, allowing for the student to develop their own unique paths to tackling exams.
Typical lesson length of 45 - 60 minutes aimed at students studying for GCSEs, A - Levels or at first year chemistry undergraduate level.
One year's experience tutoring a group of first year undergraduate chemistry students as part of the Peer Assisted Study Scheme (PASS) at the University of Manchester.
Received an award for exceptional contribution to the PASS scheme and student community development in my first year of undergraduate study.
Currently averaging a high first class degree mark (above 80%).
