About Jessica
I am an Ontario Certified Teacher with an Honors Bachelor of Arts in French and History, as well as a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. I have experience teaching students from Grades 1 through 11 through both supply teaching and long-term occasional roles, with a strong focus on French Immersion. DELF B2 Certified.
My passion for French extends beyond the classroom. I have had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris at the American University of Paris and in Italy at the Università per Stranieri di Siena, experiences that deepened my appreciation for language, culture and global learning. I also wrote my Honors thesis in French, exploring students’ motivations, perceptions and attitudes toward learning a second language and how these factors influence the language acquisition process.
I genuinely enjoy helping students build confidence, develop strong language skills and feel successful in their learning. I believe in creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks as they learn.

In my lessons, I emphasize the importance of learning and further strengthening French as a Second Language through the four core language domains: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Effective FSL learning requires balanced and intentional practice across all four areas, as each domain supports and reinforces the others. I design lessons that integrate authentic texts, guided conversation, structured writing practice and active listening activities to build confidence and communicative competence. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and learning goals, with a focus on clarity, repetition and real-world application to help students use French meaningfully and successfully. I can support students who are learning French from scratch, as well as those enrolled in Core French or French Immersion programs.
In addition to French as a Second Language, I provide tutoring support in other core subjects, including English, History, Geography and Social Sciences. My approach focuses on building strong foundational skills, improving organization and study habits and helping students understand course content through clear explanations and guided practice. Lessons are adapted to each student’s needs and aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations to support academic growth and confidence.
