About Hailey

I am an ambitious, quirky, bubbly, and outgoing behavioral neuroscientist with a successful career in pre-clinical research. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University in 2021 with a (concealed information) in neuroscience - with outstanding achievements in neuroscience scholarship and research.

I’m currently applying for PhD programs all over the country to fulfill my dream of being a doctor of neuroscience. This dream has made me highly adept at advancing my own career and my success in grad school makes me happy to help you with your science resume/CV or grad school apps!

The bulk of my research has been in neuropsychiatry, which is my very broad passion. I have made meaningful contributions to understanding the neural circuits underlying PTSD, discovering the epigenetic mechanisms of Major Depressive Disorder, and was briefly contracted by the federal government to work on an Alzheimer’s vaccine.

That said, I’m all about finding creative solutions to abstract problems If you feel totally stuck and like nothing is working for you, I’ve got you with a new method or technique - we may even have fun doing it :)

About the lesson

In neuroscience there is such a heavy overlap with psychology that I actually chose to specialize in neuropsychiatric conditions and focused my master’s thesis in neuropsychoparmacology because of my passions for both neuroscience and psychology!

While I may be a STEM woman, I spent much of my liberal arts degree taking myriad sociology courses, feminist philosophy, and women’s and gender studies.

What sets me apart? My career is in pre-clinical neuroscience research as an openly gay female. Overcoming the unique obstacles an incredibly difficult job designed to exclude women gives me not just academic knowledge, but an empathetic approach to personal struggles and an openness rarely found in STEM. I’m here for the personal because academic success can’t come if there is an underlying struggle with success outside of the classroom.

My teaching method varies by student (and by subject.) It could be a step-by-step walkthrough of a tricky problem, offering a more easy-to-understand explanation of dense reading material, answering free-for-all questions, I’m here for it - whatever you need!

A typical lesson plan for me will always be individual, but you will leave feeling more confident, relaxed, and your next session scheduled. You’ll also have to tell me how your day is going :)
