About Aline

Who am I and what is my expertise?

I started taking singing lessons at the age of 14, at the same time I joined a 'girls' choir.
When I was 16, I enrolled in the conservatory for vocal technique, music theory, and choir. Additionally, I was a soloist in a professional choir and went on a regional tour for 2 years. I also played the piano (though I am not a pianist).
At the age of 17, I entered the opera singing class of my 'master,' Élène Golgevit (now a professor emeritus at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris). She was my mentor until I was 21. Under her guidance, I became a finalist in auditions for the Jeune Chœur de Paris (a world-renowned ensemble) and sang in the choir of the opera in Montpellier. At the same time, I was learning Feldenkrais (a body awareness approach based on awareness of bodily movement). I also received instruction from phoniatrist and specialist in opera singers' voices, Benoît Amy de la Bretèque (known for inventing vocal exercises and rehabilitation using a straw).

After a period of hiatus and immigration to Montreal, I was the only soprano selected at the audition for the OSM choir in 2017, out of 50 sopranos. Not bad after a long break!

I also hold a certificate in teaching literature at the Cégep level, but what I love to teach more than anything is the voice. Whether it's supporting teachers and professionals who use their voices daily or working with singers.

I conduct vocal hygiene workshops, particularly as part of educational days in Cégep and companies.

I am also referred by a psychologist to assist patients in their quest for identity and vocal confidence.

About the lesson

Learning healthy vocal habits and vocal hygiene: breathing, muscle training, vocal placement
Vocal rehabilitation and strategies for regaining your voice
Pedagogical tools used: Feldenkrais for body awareness, vocal yoga, straw phonation exercises, vocalization, and vocalization exercises
