About Brenda
Hi! I want to be your tutor! I am a paleontologist, and study the horned dinosaurs (like Triceratops). However, in order to earn money I teach!
I have over 20 years of teaching experience at the community college, university, and medical school levels. I mainly teach biology and human anatomy and physiology classes. I have earned a NISOD award for teaching excellence, and consistently get good reviews. My Rate My Prof rating is also pretty good!
I think it is very important to teach my students how to learn correctly, especially in first and second year classes. Active learning, including drawing pictures, making concept maps, and teaching other students, is more effective than passive learning (generally reading notes and watching videos and animations), and is essential for most students at the college level.
I want to help you achieve the grade you want! Nothing is more important to me than your success!

I can explain complex concepts and mechanisms clearly, as well as provide extra resources for you to use to study. My teaching experience has all been at the college level, but I would be comfortable teaching high school level classes as well. All introductory biology courses, majors or non-majors, including evolution and genetics courses. All human anatomy and physiology courses. Upper level biology courses including comparative anatomy.
