The fact that he has also completed an MBA confirms he has a solid foundation. Not only has demonstrated that he is highly numerical, he is also very professional in his approach. I speak French fluently because it is my mother tongue. I was born and raised in a French-speaking environment (Cameroon, France and Switzerlnd), which gave me a deep cultural and intuitive grasp of the language from an early age.
Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?
Victor Hugo is, in my view, a towering figure of the French language. His ability to express complex ideas with beauty and clarity—especially in Les Misérables—captures the soul, depth, and rhythm of French at its finest.
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?
I love the phrase “l’esprit d’escalier”—the idea of thinking of the perfect reply just after the moment has passed. It is witty, poetic, and very French in its appreciation of nuance and timing.
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
French is more than a language—it is a way of thinking. It shapes how I express ideas, emotions, and culture. Helping others access this richness is incredibly rewarding.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
French grammar and pronunciation can be challenging, especially gender agreement and silent letters. The best way to overcome this is through structured immersion—regular practice in a supportive, conversational setting.
