About Lizzie
My name is Lizzie, and I'm a recent graduate hoping to go into education someday. I studied Philosophy & German at Oxford, where I got the opportunity to use my language skills to read books I loved and talk about philosophy I was interested in. As part of my degree, I spent a year abroad, where I studied at the University of Leipzig. It's amazing what a difference it can make to your ability to speak a language when you have to use it to get by - and what a joy it can become when it is a means to making friends and enjoying great opportunities rather than just being a scary exam prospect!

Looking for lessons in German speaking with a bit less pressure than with a native speaker? I've been there myself! For most students, speaking is the most nerve-wracking part of learning it, and unfortunately, it's the one we get the least practice in in the classroom. I understand how a native English speaker approaches language-learning, how to encourage confidence in speaking rather than diminish it, and how to bring together practical experience actually using a language with technical grammatical knowledge of how the language works. My qualifications: Previous experience tutoring German professionally (self-employed) & English as a second language on a volunteer basis (ENGin scheme) 1st class degree in German with Distinction in spoken German My lessons: Lesson length 1hr Either fully in German, or with grammatical/explanatory portions in English - whichever you prefer Can be at your home if based in or around Canterbury, or online anywhere else Appropriate for GCSE or A-Level German students - following curriculum-prescribed topics from exam boards
