About Sebastián

I am currently on the BPhil (Master's) in Philosophy course at St. Anne's College, Oxford University. Previously I studied philosophy at the University of Durham where I graduated with a first-class honours degree and was awarded The Gabbett Final Year Prize for achieving the highest marks in my final year.

I have several years of tutoring experience, helping people with their A-levels and GCSEs as well as at a university-level. Feel free to message me with any inquiries!

About the lesson

My method in tutoring is to not just teach students, but to give them the confidence and skills to be able to succeed in their own studies. My academic success has come not just from learning facts and bits of knowledge, but from gaining a real understanding of the methods and skills needed to succeed in philosophy and in education in general.

I focus on the needs of each individual student and working together to achieve the student's learning objectives. Because of this, my methods are varied and context-based: I am able to go through one of your essays with your, we may read a difficult extract together, or we may have a discussion led session on a philosophy question or problem.

I studied philosophy with Sebastián at Durham University when I was an undergraduate. Sebastián was undoubtedly one of the most talented students on the course and I was consistently impressed with his skills, passion and dedication to the subject. He has helped me with my studies on several occasions and has always been incredibly patient and clear in his explanations. He is motivated, organised and I am confident that he will take students to the next level and build up their confidence and understanding of philosophy. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor!

I have worked with Sebastián for the last four years now. His ability to simplify complex philosophical ideas is remarkable; he is a patient, dedicated tutor who tailors his approach according to his students’ needs. Sebastián also prompts students to engage in independent critical thinking, encouraging pupils to develop their own original ideas.
