About Isabella

I currently work as a Teaching Assistant, working with pupils in Year 6 who have Special Educational Needs or are learning English as an additional language. I recently graduated from the University of Oxford, where I studied Human Sciences (psychology, sociology, biology, and more!). The amazing education I've been so lucky to receive has inspired me to tutor others and share my passions. I've been tutoring for over 5 years, and I have experience with students aged 8-18.

I tutor English and Maths for Year 6 SATs; English Literature, English Language, Spanish, Sociology, Psychology, and Biology for GCSE; English Literature, Spanish, and Biology for A-level. I can also help with UCAS applications and personal statements, including Oxbridge applications. If you are unsure if I can help, please reach out, and we can talk about it!

Everyone has unique learning needs and styles, and I am here to support yours. As a Teaching Assistant, I am trained and experienced in supporting EAL and SEN pupils. I have experience working with students with ASD, ADHD, and mental health needs, and I will always provide empathetic support.

Importantly, I am friendly and patient, and I am here to support learners with their social, emotional, and cultural development as they learn. Don't hesitate to drop me a message!

About the lesson

I am a flexible tutor able to adjust my teaching style according to learners' needs. Typically, tutoring sessions last from 30-60 minutes for younger students and 60 minutes for those aged 11 and up. When relevant, I can set homework or further activities to enhance learning in between sessions.

I like to agree on aims and objectives with students so that I can plan a suitable schedule to achieve these goals. Each session is planned in advance to ensure that learners are making progress. I include different types of activities so that learning is interesting and varied. I have a particular interest and expertise in Human Biology (anatomy, genetics, evolution, etc.), so I am always happy to provide more in-depth examples in this area!

My experience as a Teaching Assistant and my academic background in psychology means that I understand how different people learn, and I can tailor my approach to each individual.
