About Ian
I know many people find maths and physics difficult, and have a passion to help other people. With my background (1st class degree in maths, Physics A level, and enough personal interest in both subjects to regularly learn more in my own time), helping people to achieve in these subjects is the most effective way I can help. Besides, I genuinely enjoy teaching!

I have been tutoring since 2008. I approach each new pupil as an individual, aiming to find and resolve their own difficulties. I am friendly, approachable and flexible, and am always clearly on the pupil's side.
Lessons usually last 1 hour, at the pupil's home; but both timing and location are at the pupil's request.

Ian is a wonderful mentor, very encouraging and soft spoken. Really helped me further myself in Physics and Further Maths!
Ian has been tutoring my 14 year old son for a couple years now, mainly maths, but also some physics and chemistry. My son was initially keen to learn higher level maths and physics and Ian has been brilliant in enabling this. His knowledge is excellent from GCSE through to undergraduate level and beyond. He has a calm and reassuring approach which encourages self belief in the student, whatever the level. Ian has tailored his sessions to my son’s interests and has succeeded in maintaining my son’s enthusiasm; helping him to tackle more and more difficult problems. Hopefully we shall retain him as a tutor for a few more years yet. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone who wants or needs to learn maths, physics or chemistry at an level.
"Ian is brilliant—clear, patient, and great with my son. Confidence and grades have improved. Highly recommended."
