About Samuel
As a practising artist, teaching is a natural extension of my work. Grounded in critical thinking, I am drawn to spaces of learning and hope to help others who pursue academia reach their goals.
What I offer is honest, constructive guidance from someone who has recently gone through the process themselves. I’m invested in helping students not only improve their chances of acceptance, but also arrive at art school with a clearer sense of who they are and what they want to make.

My lessons are designed for students who are serious about developing a strong, distinctive portfolio and successfully applying to BA or MA-level art programmes. Whether you’re at an early stage or refining a near-complete application, I offer tailored, one-to-one guidance grounded in my experience studying at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford and Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
What I include will focus on helping you articulate what makes your work unique.
Portfolio curation:
Selecting, sequencing, and presenting your work effectively, developing new work if necessary, and refining the conceptual and visual coherence of your practice.
Personal statement support:
Providing detailed feedback and editing support for personal statements, helping you communicate your ideas with clarity, confidence, and originality.
Interview prep:
Helping you confidently present both yourself and your work in front of admissions tutors in a way that they will understand and respect.
Lessons are collaborative and adaptive. We might discuss key artists and references that orbit your practice, or work through practical exercises to unlock new directions in your work.
My teaching approach balances critical thinking with practical outcomes. I aim to help you deepen your own voice while meeting the expectations of competitive art schools.
I teach online, making it easy to share work, annotate portfolios, and track development over time. Each student receives clear, actionable feedback and a sense of direction for what to do between sessions.
If you’re aiming for a top art school and want rigorous, honest, and supportive guidance, I’d be glad to work with you.
