About Samhitha
I'm Samhitha, a Maths graduate based in London. I hold an MSc in Mathematical and Computational Finance from the University of Oxford, awarded with a Merit, and a BSc (Research) in Mathematics from Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, where I graduated with High Distinction and was named on the Dean's List four times. Before Oxford, I spent two years as a financial research analyst at D. E. Shaw, using Maths every day to solve real problems.
I have been tutoring since 2017. I started by teaching Maths to Grade 5 pupils at a local school, then tutored a GCSE-age student one-to-one in Maths and Science, and later ran weekly problem-solving sessions for 25 university students as a teaching assistant, writing individual feedback on each student's progress.
I want to teach because I know how much a clear explanation can change a student's view of Maths. I scored 100% in Maths in my own final school exams, and that came from understanding the ideas behind each method. I'd like to help my students reach that same understanding, and the confidence that comes with it.

Lessons are for GCSE and A level students, usually aged 14 to 18, who want to catch up, build confidence or push for a top grade.
Lessons usually last between one and two hours, depending on what each student needs, for example a longer session before an exam. In the first session I find out what you already know and where you tend to get stuck, then plan the following lessons around your exam and the topics that need the most work. I break each topic into small, clear steps and check that you can explain a method back to me in your own words before we move on. We work through past paper questions so you get used to how they are worded and marked, and I set short tasks between lessons when they help.
Lessons can be online or in person, and the format and pace are adapted to each student.
I have tutored Maths for several years, from one-to-one lessons with a GCSE-age student to weekly problem sessions for 25 university students as a teaching assistant, where test scores rose by 10% on average between assessments. I hold an MSc in Mathematical and Computational Finance from the University of Oxford and scored 100% in Maths in my own final school exams.
Many students who feel anxious about Maths just need it explained a different way. My aim is for you to walk into the exam confident that you know what to do.
