About Alfred
Hi there! I'm a very passionate teacher in maths and physics with a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London (Dean’s List) and I’m about to begin a PhD at Oxford. Over the past five years, I’ve delivered more than 700 hours of Maths and Physics tutoring at GCSE and A-level, helping students build real understanding and confidence in subjects that can often feel overwhelming. I genuinely enjoy breaking down tricky concepts and helping students reach those satisfying “aha!” moments. My goal is to explain ideas so clearly that they feel intuitive - like something you could have figured out yourself. Whether you’re aiming to boost your grades, deepen your understanding, or just feel less lost in lessons, I’ll tailor our sessions to suit your pace and learning style. If you haven’t yet had the right support, I’d love to help change that.

My approach is all about building confidence through clarity. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, logical steps that feel intuitive - often starting from familiar ground and gradually connecting it to new concepts. The goal is to make even the trickiest problems feel approachable by showing how they follow naturally from what you already understand. I want students to reach a point where each solution feels like common sense - like something they could have come up with themselves, just with the right guidance and perspective.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I have known Alfred for many years through a family member, but turned to him to tutor my son through GCSE subjects.
Alfred is an engaged and enthusiastic person, who is approachable, easy to get along with, organised and patient when teaching young people.
I would highly recommend Alfred as a tutor, my son became more confident in his subject knowledge whilst being tutored by Alfred, where topics were approached at the right pace to make progress, whilst encouraging my son to stretch himself where appropriate.
Alfred was organised for sessions, provided additional work at an agreed level, was incredibly knowledgable in the topics covered whilst being down to earth with a calm and friendly tutoring style.I have known Alfred for over 10 years and have witnessed firsthand his dedication to providing high quality lessons for his students, all the way from his preparation to the lesson delivery itself. His patience and knowledge when explaining topics is always first class. He is often the person I turn to for help when planning my own tutoring sessions.
Alfred has been teaching my two daughters(from IGCSE through to IB & A-Level Math and Further Math) for several years now, and we are very satisfied with his passionate teaching.
He always well prepares his lessons and is very patient when answering their questions, especially when they face the challenges.
He not only helps them solve problems but also ensures they truly understand the theory behind the problem.
I would highly recommend Alfred if you are looking for a sincere, enthusiastic and reliable math tutor.View more recommendations
