About Gabriel
I am a history graduate with a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in History and Politics, a Master’s degree in History, and a PGCE from the University of Oxford. My academic background reflects a long-standing commitment to the discipline, but it is teaching that gives that knowledge its meaning. I teach because I believe history is not simply a subject to be learnt, but a way of understanding the world. At its best, it trains students to question evidence, weigh competing interpretations, and express ideas with clarity and confidence. These are skills that endure far beyond any examination. Working with students individually allows me to teach history properly: attentively, thoughtfully, and with high expectations. I take genuine satisfaction in helping students realise their potential - not through shortcuts, but through careful guidance, intellectual discipline, and encouragement at the right moments

My lessons are structured, purposeful, and tailored to the individual student. I begin by identifying strengths, gaps in understanding, and specific goals, ensuring each session has a clear focus and direction. I place strong emphasis on historical thinking and written expression: building arguments, analysing sources, and communicating ideas with clarity and precision. Rather than rote learning, students are guided to understand why events happened and how historians construct interpretations. Progress is incremental and measurable. Skills are revisited, refined, and extended over time, helping students gain confidence while steadily raising expectations. Lessons are demanding but supportive, with clear feedback and practical strategies students can apply independently. Above all, I aim to make history intellectually rigorous, engaging, and empowering - equipping students not only for examinations, but for disciplined thinking beyond the classroom
