About Abdullah

I am currently studying PPE at the University of Oxford, which heavily involves the problem-solving skills interlinked with mathematics. My passion for maths is simple: the satisfaction of cracking a problem that would have looked impossible previously is unmatched. I hope to get that feeling to all the students I teach.

About the lesson

In each lesson, I like to start with a difficult problem on the topic covered previously to refresh exam technique and skills. Further on from that, I take a personalised approach using a mock exam test I give every student. I prioritise turning their weaknesses into their strengths. I go through numerous examples and constantly ask the student if further breakdown is needed. Once the initial concept is understood by the student, I then dedicate the remaining time to exam-style questions or difficult applications of the topic. This is important for them to use the knowledge they have in practice. Finally, I set homework to be completed for the next session, which I mark and give feedback on, while also using it to inform me if a topic needs extra attention. The culmination of these steps provides the best learning experience for maths possible and ensures students excel at not only knowing the topics but applying them for examination.
