About Joe
I am a History Graduate from St John's College, University of Oxford. I received a first-class degree, the highest mark-band, and am keen to share my passion for history, and my extensive knowledge of effective learning techniques and historical periods to allow my students to rise to a new level of academic rigour and performance.
Tutoring is the logical next step in my career, as I now have extensive first-hand experience of the 1-on-1 tutoring style that characterises an Oxford education. Experiencing the effectiveness of this style has made me passionate about delivering it myself, and providing a high-quality, tailored experience for those looking to go beyond the standard level of historical instruction.
I have performed consistently high across all grade levels throughout my education, so have recent knowledge of what it takes to achieve excellent results, no matter where any given student sits in their academic journey.
The tutor-student dynamic has been at the heart of my success, and I believe it is crucial to academic excellence. A tutor must be rigorous and thorough when creating learning schedules and lesson plans, but must also be able to connect effectively with the student. My expertise means nothing if it cannot be transferred, so particular care and attention is given to identifying the needs and style of each pupil and adapting to that to generate excellent outcomes.
