About Esther

I am a student at the University of Oxford studying Japanese. I have completed both the Japanese GCSE and A-Level, in which I achieved an A.
My passion for Japan and Japanese is wide-ranging, and I am devoted to providing clear and memorable explanations on topics such as grammar and the Japanese script.
My love for Japanese literature, history and film allows me to effectively introduce the cultural and literary aspects of Japanese. I have taught Japanese to children and adults of all ages, including GCSE students for 3 years, and beginners for even longer.
I tutor a wide range of subjects beyond Japanese, and my students have received top grades at GCSE and A-level in all subjects.

About the lesson

Japanese is my greatest passion, and I hope to share my enthusiasm with others through our lessons together!
As a home-educated student who self-studied for all my GCSEs and A-levels, I am experienced in supporting students of all ages and all levels with independent study. I aim to encourage students to develop their full potential through inspiring and engaging lessons to nurture a love for learning. I am particularly enthusiastic about helping students achieve top grades while creating a fun and interactive classroom environment.
I have experience tutoring Japanese to beginners, GCSE and A-Level students, as well as students aiming for other goals such as completing the JLPT exams. I can help students with all elements of Japanese language learning, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
My approach to each lesson is very adaptable as I tailor each class to the individual student's needs and interests. Whether a student would prefer to take a more structured approach to language learning focused on a goal such as exams, or whether they would prefer more flexible and casual lessons for travelling and conversational level Japanese, I am more than happy to help out!
I can also aid with Oxbridge preparation, personal statement writing, and interview practice for both Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and other language courses.
