About Jo
I am a Music graduate with a Bachelors and Masters from the University of Oxford and love tutoring music theory and academic music as well as the violin and viola. I have been tutoring since 2014 and have had a wide range of students from aged 6 to 56 and from absolute beginner to university student. I teach academic music, including Music GCSE, Music A Level, University-level Music History, and Music Theory (up to ABRSM Grade 5), but equally pre-GCSE Music and Music to those not wanting to work towards any particular level but who just want to learn for fun.

I like to be flexible with my teaching methods as I feel it's important to adapt to the particular needs of the individual, but I usually find regular testing and reviewing works really well to consolidate what has been learnt. Really getting a good idea of what the tutee wants help or support with is important from the outset, and then from there I like to have a plan in place to work towards the tutee's goal.
