About James
I am a maths enthusiast, having excelled at the subject from a young age, and an empathiser for those who haven't had the adequate teaching they needed to consolidate their understanding of maths. Having grown up attending a poorly funded state school with often lackluster math teachers, I understand the difficulty students experience when trying to learn new mathematical concepts as I have seen them first-hand. That's why I am eager to tutor maths to my students because I know they have the capacity to learn it - they just need the right teacher. I am the right teacher, and with me, students will excel at maths and perhaps even find they quite enjoy the subject with the tools to understand it.

Aimed towards students studying for either A Level Maths/Further Maths or GCSE maths, in each lesson (typically one hour in length), I will run through topics students are struggling with in a way that is specialized to them.
It is my belief that every student learns maths in their own way, and has the capability to excel in it if only they are able to unlock this pathway of understanding. As someone who has profusely enjoyed (both learning and teaching) maths from a young age, I believe that I have both the passion and creativity to bring out the mathematical spark in each and every one of my students. My teaching methodology relies on patience and understanding - there are no silly questions and there are no time limits for students to produce an answer. If a student struggles to understand a concept, then I will simply tackle it from another approach until they are satisfied with their understanding.
For exams in particular, we will run through exam questions together and consolidate on a precise methodology for ensuring you obtain the most marks possible on any given paper. By working on exam questions together, students will be able to see exactly what my thought process is for each question and apply that on their own to similar questions.
Relevant qualifications:

* 8 in GCSE maths
* Current 2nd year physics student at New College, University of Oxford
