About Ben
I am a friendly teacher, inspired by my kind teachers to inspire the next generation of students! In my personal life I enjoy sports and I'm an avid Liverpool FC fan - please don't let that put you off! I also have a ginger tabby cat called Hal who has lots of personality!
Building a professional inspiring rapport with a student is the foundation for good learning. Students work best when they are engaged and comfortable and I like to create that environment through clear communication, fostering a friendly attitude, and offering support, while encouraging them to push their own ability.

I tailor the sessions to the student - adapting the learning outcomes in a way that best suits their learning style. I have taught to a range of people, from Scouts and Guides, school children (primary and secondary), and at different adult learning levels (undergraduate and masters). I am accomplished with breaking down complicated information into understandable chunks, while bearing in mind their ability and competency level. This is essential to maximising the student's potential and the learning from the sessions.
I am a light-hearted person that wants to see my students thrive. Supporting students through encouragement and confidence building is essential to my teaching style. This approach encourages the student participation and enthusiasm!
A class typically lasts either 1hr or an 1.5hrs with a short break in the middle to allow for bathroom breaks and any other needs. I can do longer sessions if needed.
I have been working in higher education (University of Bradford and University of Victoria, Canada) for the last 5 years. Every day during term time, I am in classes teaching and demonstrating complex lessons with a range of learning styles and student backgrounds.
I am a strong tutor that gets the best out of students, while making sessions educational, fun, and engaging.
