About Claressa
I used to dislike math as a middle school student. Yes, you read that correctly. I was in tutoring, lower level math classes, and didn't get above a C average until 8th grade. It only took the passion of one teacher to change my entire learning mindset. I gained not only better math skills, but the desire to help others who think math is scary and difficult.

I love to begin by learning who you are. Tell me your strengths. What are your areas you wish to improve on? What situations led you to tutoring? What do you expect from me as your tutor (how can I best help your personal needs)?
Based on what I learn from you, I plan my lessons based on how you learn. My teacher philosophy is that every student learns differently. We will go through guided lessons together using manipulatives, videos, and discussions. This will introduce the topic. We will practice together and have in depth discussions to help you better understand the topic and not focus on remembering facts. This strategy is to help you develop higher-level thinking skills and love challenging math problems.
