About Michael
Hi, I'm Mike. I graduated with my BA in History from the State University of New York at Cortland. I held minors in Professional Writing and Political Science as well. I have lived and worked abroad as a volunteer English teacher in Ecuador and India. I also spent almost 2 years as an education volunteer with Peace Corps Ethiopia. I enjoy writing recreationally, exercising, watching movies/shows, hiking and playing chess and Settlers of Catan with my friends.
Working as a tutor and ever-aspiring educator imbues me with gratification, humility and solace. It has been my life's honor to have overseen and assisted the growth and development of hundreds of individual students. I vow to invest and devote my most concerted efforts to each session and individual student I work with. With about 5 years experience tutoring, and about 3 years as a formal classroom teacher, I have developed a personable, laid-back, and collaborative approach to ensure my students don't dread writing and feel genuinely confident they can write academically on their own. I believe literacy and a proficient command of the English language are among the most inavaluable assets available for us regular people to learn, employ and master. This philosophy and conviction provides the foundation for all the work I do as a tutor.
