About Eric

I am a Jazz Guitarist, Arranger and Composer. I play live regularly in Dublin in various projects and organise jazz events.

I'm passionate about Jazz and improvised music. I also have a lot of experience playing other genres such as Funk, Pop, Blues, Rock and Folk.

Originally from Meath, I have lived in and played music professionally in Prague, Berlin and Dublin.

I have a Grade 8 in electric guitar playing from London College of Music. I studied Jazz Performance for 1 year in the Paul Hindemith Musikschule in Berlin and I am currently in the third year of the Jazz and Contemporary Music bachelor programme at DCU.

About the lesson

I have over 15 years playing, gigging and teaching experience. In addition to constant self-study, I have had the privilege of studying under many renowned jazz musicians in both Ireland and Germany.

This experience allows me to provide well-constructed and personalised lessons which ensure consistent and sustainable progress. I have a calm and focused teaching style, reacting to students' needs to ensure that they are progressing in their overall musicianship and making steps towards their personal goals. I provide tailored homework and practice plans that are appropriately challenging to the student's ability and commitment level.

I teach Guitar to all ages and levels, as well as Bass for beginners and intermediates. I teach most styles (not classical). Lessons are possible online or at your home. I can teach in Ashbourne/Rathoath (& surrounds) as well as some parts of North Dublin City (limited availability).

I can help students in the following areas:

-Learning your favourite songs and pieces
-Developing your sound
-Playing with good technique
-Improvisation
-Understanding harmony and music theory
-How to effectively accompany other musicians
-Writing and arranging your own music
-Preparing for exams (non-classical) or live performances
