Teaching Method and Techniques
As a guitar tutor, I focus on a student-centered approach that balances technical development, musicality, and personal expression. I tailor my lessons to each student’s skill level, goals, and musical interests, ensuring they stay engaged and motivated. I emphasize:
Practical Application – Learning through real songs and playing techniques instead of just theory.
Ear Training & Improvisation – Developing the ability to play by ear, understand phrasing, and create personal musical expressions.
Tone & Gear Knowledge – Helping students refine their sound, especially for styles like Blues Rock and Pop, using their guitars, amps, and pedals effectively.
Music Theory in Context – Teaching theory as a tool for creativity rather than just memorization.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A lesson with me is structured but flexible, depending on the student’s progress and goals. A typical session includes:
Warm-up & Technique Development – Exercises focusing on finger dexterity, picking techniques, and timing.
Song Study & Application – Learning and analyzing songs to apply techniques like bending, vibrato, phrasing, and dynamics.
Improvisation & Creativity – Encouraging students to experiment with their own solos, chord progressions, and tone shaping.
Music Theory & Practical Use – Understanding how scales, chord structures, and harmony work in real playing situations.
Review & Practice Goals – Setting clear, achievable practice routines to ensure continuous improvement.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Broad & Versatile Skillset – I am not confined to one style, giving students the freedom to explore multiple genres while maintaining a strong foundation.
Experience in Church & Performance Settings – As a lead guitarist in a worship band, I bring real-world performance experience, which is invaluable for students wanting to play live or in group settings.
Passion for Tone & Gear – I help students develop not just technique but also their unique sound, something essential for Blues Rock and Pop styles.
Mentorship Approach – I strive to inspire students beyond just playing, encouraging them to find confidence, expression, and joy in their musical journey.
Who the Lessons Are For
Beginners to Advanced Players – I teach students at all levels, from those just starting out to experienced players looking to refine their skills.
Worship & Church Musicians – Guitarists who want to improve their skills for worship settings.
Blues Rock & Pop Enthusiasts – Players who want to develop expressive lead techniques, rhythmic grooves, and a great guitar tone.
Aspiring Professional Guitarists – Those who want to build versatility, stage confidence, and a strong musical foundation.
I believe that learning guitar should be inspiring and fulfilling. My goal is to help students not only become better musicians but also find their own voice in music.

Kris is truly a professional and dedicated teacher. I transitioned from acoustic to electric guitar, and his customized lessons are highly targeted and perfectly suited to my learning pace and understanding. Kris explains techniques in great detail, including hand positioning and playing skills, which has helped me avoid many detours. I’m really glad I chose to learn electric guitar with Kris instead of trying to teach myself. Highly recommended to friends nearby or anyone looking for quality online lessons!
I have been learning guitar with Kris for several months. I would like to share some of my feelings for your reference. Kris is indeed a very good guitar teacher. He tailors a learning plan according to my level and goals. The difficulty of each lesson is just right. There are new skills that need to be learned and practiced, but they are not too difficult. Basically, you can master them in one to two weeks. While gradually improving, it is both entertaining and fulfilling, forming a gradual and virtuous cycle, which makes it easier for me to stick to it. I personally feel that the most commendable thing is that Kris is also very serious and responsible outside of class.
He will answer the questions I raise in detail, send me demonstration videos, and pay attention to my usual practice to help me find problems and solve them. This is indeed something that cannot be done in other places. This one-on-one class with after-school remote assistance is really worth it. Learning a musical instrument is still about persistence. Only with a reliable teacher can you have the possibility of persistence.View more recommendations
