About Leah
I’ve always had a deep passion for biology and microbiology, thanks to an amazing high school teacher, which led me to pursue a BSc Honours in Microbiology. My fascination with how life works at the cellular and microbial levels has driven me to constantly learn more and share that knowledge with others.
What excites me about teaching is the opportunity to help students unlock their potential. I understand that science can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I believe that with the right guidance and support, anyone can master it. As someone who has struggled with certain aspects, I may understand your concerns and needs. By understanding my weakness and learning new study techniques, I was able to overcome my academic hurdles. Therefore, I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible parts and watching students grow in confidence and ability, just like I once did.
Tutoring allows me to combine my love for science with my desire to make a real difference in students' academic journeys. I find it incredibly rewarding to see students overcome challenges, improve their understanding, and achieve their goals. My calm, patient demeanor ensures that each student feels comfortable to learn at their own pace, ask questions, and ultimately succeed!

How My Lessons Work:
I encourage learning through diagrams, pictures and flowcharts, which is best for science based subjects. However my tutoring sessions are tailored to each student's individual learning style and pace. I believe in simplifying difficult concepts and scientific terms for true understanding, before moving on to advanced topics. I try to create a comfortable, engaging environment where students feel confident to ask questions.
I begin by understanding your strengths and areas that need improvement. From there, I design lessons that focus on your specific needs, helping you grasp even the most challenging topics.
My lessons are not just about memorizing facts. I use practical examples and relate ideas to real-life scenarios, to make concepts easier to understand and more interesting.
I focus on ensuring that you fully understand key concepts before moving forward, helping you build a solid foundation that will serve you well in exams and future studies. We may repeat topics as many times as you need.
For matric students, I offer exam-focused sessions where we tackle past papers, discuss answering techniques, and break down complex topics so you feel fully prepared and confident on test day.
Additionally, I offer help with effective note taking skills, allowing students to create effective and memorable written notes for studying, test and exam prep.
