About Soumi
I am a dedicated and academically trained musician with a strong background in both arts and music. I completed my graduation in English Honors from University of Calcutta, which helped me develop strong communication skills and a deep understanding of literature and language.
Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Tabla from Rabindra Bharati University, where I am undergoing advanced training in Indian Classical Music with a focus on both practical performance and theoretical knowledge. In addition, I have completed a Diploma in Tabla from Pracheen Kala Kendra Chandigarh, which strengthened my technical foundation and broadened my musical perspective.
My academic journey reflects my commitment to both education and music, allowing me to teach with clarity, structure, and depth.

I offer structured and personalized tabla classes for students of all levels — from complete beginners to advanced learners. My training is rooted in the traditional style of the Lucknow Gharana, with a strong focus on clarity of bols, proper hand technique, layakari (rhythmic understanding), and musical expression.
In my classes, students learn:
• Basic to advanced bols and compositions (Qaida, Rela, Tukra, Chakradar, etc.)
• Teentaal and other important taals in detail
• Accompaniment techniques for vocal, instrumental, and Kathak performances
• Theory of Indian Classical Music (for exams and academic purposes)
• Riyaz methods to improve speed, clarity, stamina, and tone
Each class is designed according to the student’s level and goals — whether it is for hobby learning, stage performance, exams, competitions, or professional growth. I believe in disciplined practice, clear understanding, and building a strong foundation while keeping the learning process enjoyable and inspiring.
