About Aadhila

I have a bachelor's degree and I am in the process of obtaining my TEFL certificate. I am teaching for 7 years. I lead a classroom of 30 learners aged 4-6 years old. Their first language is not English, therefore we teach ESL for the first few months and move on to the general learning areas such as Mathematics, Life Skills and Home Language. I also offered home-based tutoring for learners in need of extra support.

About the lesson

Each learner develops at his/her own pace. Teaching needs to be adapted to the individual learner. The best learning takes place through exploration and self discovery. I believe that students should ask questions and teaching should be based on this. Love, care, patience and passion are very important traits to have in a successful teacher. Always remember that learning is life long and it never ends. Lessons are engaging and allow for children to ask and be curious. Teaching is not one sided. The lessons are fun and creative and include lots of music and movement for young learners. A teacher must always be well prepared and focused on the lesson. Get to know each learner well, be comforting and gain the trust of the learner because this is when they learn the best, if they trust you as a teacher. Lessons are not too long, to avoid learners getting bored. The lessons are interactive and interesting with the use of props, flashcards, puppets and lots of TPR. Children are constantly praised for their good efforts.
