About MB

I began dancing as a child and attended a pre-professional training program for seven years, studying classical ballet (Vaganova syllabus), Broadway-style jazz dance, and Martha Graham-style Modern dance. As an adult, I began to study and teach American-style ballroom dancing, both Smooth and Rhythm styles, along with Hustle and Salsa. I have worked in a variety of independent and franchised ballroom dance studios over the past twenty years and have experience teaching both private and group lessons. I enjoy both leading and following and am comfortable teaching both roles. I am also a current Dance major, studying ballet, Modern dance, jazz dance, and African Diaspora dance, along with Anatomy, theatrical lighting, and other dance-related topics. My current studies serve to enhance a lifetime of dance knowledge and appreciation, solidifying my original passion in life.

English

I am a teacher who strives to empower and inspire students to seek progress, not perfection. Dance should be a joyful expression of self that is firmly rooted in strong technique. My students over the past twenty years have ranged in age and in experience level, but I specialize in working with adult beginners. I am the teacher who will encourage you to strive for your best, whatever that means to you. In my own dancing, I focus on technique and musicality, and I firmly believe in the power of a beautifully executed foundational step. However, I also want my students to feel both challenged and empowered by the dancing that they learn in our work together.
